Adapted to Mild, Variable, or Seasonally Transitional Climates
The Temperate Mix is a balanced blend of flowers, grasses, and legumes designed for regions with intermediate climates—where variations in temperature, moisture, and light require strong adaptability.
It promotes abundant, long-lasting flowering while supporting biodiversity, soil fertility, and the natural beauty of landscapes.
Ideal for peri-urban areas, community gardens, parks, and sites undergoing ecological transition, this mix combines robustness, aesthetics, and functional ecology.
🌸 Main Composition

- Cosmos Mix (Cosmos bipinnatus) – Light, floriferous annual ideal for mild climates.
- Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) – Hardy, nectar-rich perennial attracting butterflies and bees.
- Garden Orache (Atriplex hortensis) – Heirloom plant tolerant of heat and drought.
- Blue Raspberry (Rubus leucodermis) – Rare native species; fruiting groundcover attractive to wildlife.
- Sheep Fescue (Festuca ovina) – Fine-textured grass, drought-tolerant and soil-stabilizing.
- Micro Clover (Trifolium repens var. micro) – Low-growing nitrogen fixer, ideal for light and mixed soils.
- Baby Blue Eyes (Nemophila menziesii) – Annual with soft blue flowers that attract pollinators.
- Sweet Alyssum ‘Snow Carpet’ (Lobularia maritima) – Fragrant groundcover with continuous bloom.

The Temperate Mix reflects the mission of Semence Canada and Unifor: making nature resilient and flourishing even where climates fluctuate, and fostering an energy and ecological transition rooted in living biodiversity.
🌱 A Partnership for Ecological Transition
As part of the energy and ecological transition movement, Semence Canada has partnered with the Canadian union Unifor to implement a pilot greening project in the Laurentians region.
This partnership aims to green living and working environments, restore local biodiversity, and demonstrate how nature can act as a practical driver of energy transition in Quebec and across Canada.
For this project, Semence Canada developed an exclusive range of in-house seed mixes, carefully designed and tested to adapt to diverse environments and climatic conditions:
- 🌾 All-Purpose Mix – Versatile, resilient, and suited to most Quebec soils and climates
- 🌿 Urban Mix – Formulated for parks, institutional grounds, rooftops, and urban green spaces
- 🌱 Green Manure Mix – Regenerates soils, improves structure, enhances water retention, and captures carbon
- 🍃 Temperate Mix – Ideal for mild or variable climates, promoting natural plant diversity
- ❄️ Nordic Mix – Specifically designed for the cold, rigorous climates of Quebec and Canada, featuring hardy species able to withstand prolonged frost and short growing seasons
These mixes—made from local, climate-adapted seeds—enhance ecological resilience and reduce the energy footprint associated with maintaining green spaces.
Together, Semence Canada and Unifor are laying the foundations for a just and sustainable energy transition—where every seed planted becomes a gesture toward the future, for workers, communities, and the planet.
