The bush has several stems and can reach a height of 64 cm. The fruit is 7.6–15 cm (3–6 in) long and 5–8 cm (2–3 in) wide. An immature poblano is dark purplish-green in color, but ripe fruit eventually turn red so dark it’s almost black.
Poblanos grow in hardiness zones 10 to 12 and do best with soil pH between 7.0 and 8.5. They generally prefer full sun and may require additional support for growing fruit during harvest in late summer.
