Green Globe Artichoke

The Green Globe Artichoke grows on such magnificent plants that they are often found in flower gardens. A little patience is required but the wait is worth it. Plump, round, artichokes can appear on this variety in the first year, but the harvest improves from the second year of growth. They can be large, 8-10cm (3-4″) in diameter. Harvest the buds when young and tender. Attractive plants grow 1-2m (3-6ft) tall. These artichokes have an excellent flavor and thick and succulent scales sautéed with butter.Remember to protect the stems from freezing since the artichoke does not tolerate temperatures below -5 degrees Celsius.
