The pineapple lily (Eucomis) is an original and highly decorative summer-flowering bulb belonging to the Asparagaceae family. Native to South Africa, it is admired for its unique bloom that resembles a pineapple in full flower, topped with elegant green bracts. Its botanical name comes from the Greek Eukomos, meaning “beautifully haired.”

In summer, a sturdy flower stalk reaching up to 60 cm rises above a rosette of large, strap-shaped leaves. The dense spike of star-shaped flowers opens gradually from the base to the top and strongly attracts bees and butterflies, making it an excellent choice for pollinator-friendly gardens.
