This corn is the very definition of wild beauty! These incredibly resilient plants were bred from the frigid mountains of Montana. They boast impressive cold hardiness, earliness, drought tolerance and they thrive at high altitudes. Montana farmer Dave Christensen has dedicated his life to breeding natural corn that thrives in harsh conditions. Since the 1970s, he has sampled more than 70 varieties of open-pollinated corn to create Painted Mountain from heirlooms cultivated by northern Native American tribes for thousands of years and settlers living in harsh northern climates. The bright color of the kernels indicates a high nutrient content, making it a great corn for decoration or eating! Painted Mountain Corn can be eaten fresh, ground or roasted, and it makes a very nutritious flour for muffins, tortillas and fries!
